How it works

How to book appointments, who you will see and what happens at your appointment.

To book an evening or weekend appointment, contact your GP in the usual way. They will book an appointment at a local hub - through their booking system - and ask your permission to access your medical records.

They will provide you with a date, time and location for your appointment.

If for some reason you need to change or cancel please call 0300 303 7300.

When you call to book an appointment, the receptionist will suggest the most appropriate clinician for your needs. The Evening and Weekend service offers appointments with the following health professionals:

We have a team of local GPs working with us in the Evening and Weekend Service. They manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs to ensure that patients receive the highest standards of care. They predominantly focus in minor illnesses, medication reviews and referrals.

Our Nurses deal with a wide range of health needs ensuring high standards of care for all patients that are referred into the service.  Some of the conditions they cover include asthma, diabetes, COPD, cervical screening (smear tests) and family planning.

Our Healthcare Assistants are responsible for many healthcare duties; they work alongside our GPs and practices nurses to undertake tasks for which they have received appropriate training for such as smoking cessation, blood pressure checks, ear irrigation, spirometry, over 40s health checks, senior health checks and wound care.

When you arrive at one of our hubs, you will book in with the local receptionist and will be seen by one of our dedicated GPs, nurses or health care assistants who will be able to treat you.

Once the consultation is completed, the details will be added to your medical records so that your usual GP surgery will have access to them.
