Services video appointments banner final

Stellar Healthcare is trialling new technology to all patients to have video appointments with their GPs as part of the Evening and Weekend GP service.

The appointments work in similar way to regular video calls but information is more secure. In order to ensure your confidentiality, the tools used meet strict criteria for information governance.

We are currently working with four practices in west Essex to test out the technology.

Speak to your GP receptionist and ask for a video appointment. They will ensure your condition is eligible before confirming the appointment.

Once booked and your details are taken, you will be sent a link by email. This will prompt you to download Jabber Guest (a secure product from Cisco) from either android or Apple stores. This will then enable you to make the video call in at the designated time.

You will need:

  • A smart phone, tablet or PC with a self-facing camera and microphone
  • A reliable internet connection (wifi or hard wired preferred).

Many common GP consultations can take place by video consultation, particularly reviews, follow up of tests and discussion of administrative issues. Video appointments are not appropriate for times when an examination is needed. If as the consultation progresses it becomes clear that an examination is needed then the doctor will request that you book into see them in the normal way.
